How to give a developer limited access

Share the access needed for a task, then remove it afterwards.

What to do

  1. Decide whether the task needs WordPress, FTP or hosting access.
  2. Create a named WordPress user with an appropriate role or a limited FTP account.
  3. Share access securely, not in a public ticket.
  4. Keep backups and agree what will change.
  5. Remove unused access and review any new users afterwards.

Check the result

Confirm unrelated services are not accessible.

If you need a hand

Ask us about safely arranging full hosting access. Editing a webpage does not normally require the billing login.

Open a support request. Include the affected domain and what you tried. Leave out passwords, full payment details, and private keys.
