Nameservers decide where your domain gets its DNS answers.
Before you start
Do not enter website IP addresses in nameserver fields. Keep a record of the old nameservers.
What to do
- Get the exact nameserver hostnames from the provider that will host your DNS.
- Make sure the new DNS zone contains your website and email records before switching.
- In the client portal, open the domain and look for Nameservers under Manage.
- Enter the supplied hostnames, save, and allow cached DNS to update.
- Test the website and email after the change.
Check the result
Check the domain nameservers and the individual records needed by your services.
If you need a hand
If the action is unavailable, ask support. Tell us if DNSSEC is enabled so outdated DS records do not break resolution.
Open a support request. Include the affected domain and what you tried. Leave out passwords, full payment details, and private keys.
