How to create a staging copy with Softaculous

Test changes separately before touching a working website.

Before you start

Staging uses extra storage and is not available for every application.

What to do

  1. Back up the site and select it in Softaculous.
  2. Choose Create Staging where offered, with a separate location and database.
  3. Restrict public access and search-engine indexing.
  4. Disable live payments, customer emails and scheduled integrations on the copy.
  5. Test and plan how to apply the change to the live website.

Check the result

Confirm staging has its own URL and database.

If you need a hand

Do not replace a store database with an older staging copy while new orders arrive. Ask us to plan deployment.

Open a support request. Include the affected domain and what you tried. Leave out passwords, full payment details, and private keys.
