How to create a limited FTP account

Allow a collaborator to work in the folder they need without exposing the whole hosting account.

What to do

  1. Open Account Manager > FTP Management in DirectAdmin.
  2. Choose Create FTP Account and enter the username.
  3. Generate a strong password and choose the permitted directory or custom path.
  4. Confirm the path belongs to the correct site and save.
  5. Test the account access and remove it when the work ends.

Check the result

Use the exact username the panel displays; it may include the domain.

If you need a hand

If the required directory cannot be selected, ask support rather than sharing your main account login.

Open a support request. Include the affected domain and what you tried. Leave out passwords, full payment details, and private keys.
